Defiance is an unincorporated community in St Charles County, Missouri located just west of the St Louis metro area. Also known as the "Gateway to Missouri Wine Country" because from Defiance and heading west to Marthasville are numerous wineries along State Hwy 94. The Defiance - Augusta - Dutzow area hosts the oldest wine district in the United States and has a long history of producing award-winning wines. Some of the most beautiful and scenic parks in the St Louis area are found around Defiance which contributes to it being a wonderful place to live. The Katy Trail State Park runs through Defiance near the Missouri River and the final home of frontiersman Daniel Boone resides here and is maintained and operated as a tourist site by St Charles County.
